Pittsburgh Hires Veterans

Sustainment Corps for Pittsburgh Hires Veterans

##Years of responsibility, and a résumé few can read
A veteran leaves the service having run a maintenance operation, managed millions of dollars of equipment, or led people through situations most civilians will never face.
Then they sit down across from a hiring manager who sees none of it. Not because the hiring manager is careless, but because nothing on the page is written in a language they recognize. The skills are real.
That gap costs time. Months of underemployment. A job two levels below capability. Sometimes a slow slide out of the workforce altogether, which is far harder to reverse than it is to prevent.

### What we do about it
Pittsburgh Hires Veterans works one person at a time. We figure out what someone's service actually qualifies them for, get the credentials in order, and put them in front of employers who are ready to hire. And we work the other side too, with companies that want to hire veterans and don't know how to find or read them.
It is the difference between a veteran who is working in three months and one who is still looking in eighteen.

### Why monthly
None of this is seasonal, but our funding has been. Corporate grants and one-time gifts arrive when they arrive. The veteran who calls in February needs exactly what the veteran who calls in October needs.
The Sustainment Corps fixes that. Sustainment is the military term for keeping a force supplied and operating for as long as the mission runs, the work that decides whether everything else is possible. It is also the word fundraising uses for a monthly donor.
That is what we are asking you to be. Not a one-time push, but the steady supply underneath the work.
Monthly members give us the one thing no grant ever has, the ability to know what next quarter looks like, and to say yes to the person in front of us without checking the calendar first.

### What you're funding
Not a building. Not a marketing budget. The decisive, undramatic things that stand between a qualified veteran and a job offer: the certification that makes their experience legible, interview prep to build confidence and the staff hours to walk them through a hiring process that was not designed with them in mind.

### What you get back

  • Four updates a year telling you what actually happened, including the parts that didn't work. No weekly appeals. We don't sell or share your name. Change your amount or stop any time.
**Pittsburgh Hires Veterans is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. **
